Bangkok International Airport is bustling with hundreds of Thai tourists leaving for South Korea.

Thai people generally begin traveling to South Korea in December with their numbers peaking in January and February when there is a lot of snow.

The cold weather, snow and cuisine draw the tourists to the Korean Peninsula.

Thai tourists usually head for ski resorts first where they enjoy winter sports and a white landscape they have never seen in their homeland.

After some time on the slopes, many tourists take a hot bath at a spa and eat Korean foods, such as pork ribs and squid marinated in traditional Korean pepper paste called “gochujang.”

In Seoul, they can go on a shopping spree at shopping districts in Myeongdong and Dongdaemun.

Last year, more than 300-thousand Thai people visited South Korea and their spending here jumped 70 percent year-on-year.
