U.S. Raises Sanctions against Iran

U.S. Congress plans to push for stronger sanctions against Iran.

The U.S. Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee unanimously passed a bill aimed at strengthening sanctions against the Middle Eastern nation.

The bill includes extending sanctions under the Iran Sanctions Act to companies entering new energy-related joint ventures anywhere in the world where Iran's government is a substantial partner or investor.

The bill also requires companies listed on the U.S. stock market to submit and declare all kinds of trade with Iran with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
