Another Tibetan Sets Himself on Fire

Another Tibetan has set himself on fire in an apparent protest against China, which is strengthening its crackdown on Tibet to maintain its grip over the embattled region.

AFP News reported that the Tibetan, apparently a monk, set fire to himself at an elementary school in the besieged Ngaba town in Sichuan Province on Wednesday.

The International Campaign for Tibet said the man shouted slogans against the Chinese government and was dragged away by Chinese police officers and soldiers immediately after committing self-immolation. The condition and whereabouts of the man are unknown.

To protest the Chinese government's repression of Tibet's culture and religion, at least 20 people have burned themselves at Kirti Monastery in Ngaba since the self-immolation and death of a young monk named Phuntsog last March.
