Final Decision on 2nd Bailout for Greece Likely to Come Next Week

Finance ministers of euro zone countries are expected to reach a final decision next week on whether they will implement a second bailout program for debt-ridden Greece.

Euro Group President Jean-Claude Juncker told reporters in Brussels on Thursday that progress has been made in various areas, but he added there are a number of issues that still need to be coordinated. He made the remark before chairing an emergency meeting of euro-area finance.

Juncker said euro zone finance ministers are closely reviewing Greece’s second bailout plan and will likely reach a final decision next week if they fail to reach a decision Friday night.

Greece’s political circle previously agreed to implement additional retrenchment and financial reform measures in return for receiving a second bailout from the European Union, European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
