Greek Parliament Approves Austerity Bill

The Greek parliament has approved a strict austerity plan that was demanded by international lenders as terms for a second bailout.

Finance ministers of euro zone countries will meet Wednesday and finalize whether to provide an additional international aid package to debt-ridden Greece.

The Greek parliament put the austerity bill and a memorandum of understanding on a loan accord to a vote around midnight on Sunday, local time, with 199 lawmakers in favor and 74 against.

The bill includes belt-tightening programs attached by the euro zone and the International Monetary Fund as conditions for a 130-billion euro loan.
