Korean Federation to Establish Relationship with NAACP

The Federation of Korean Associations, USA has decided to establish a relationship with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) as part of efforts to ease anti-Korean sentiment among African Americans.

Federation President Yoo Jin-chul said Monday that the two organizations will hold a related ceremony later this month or next month to mark the establishment of the relationship. Yoo added that U.S. President Barack Obama will attend the event as an officiator.

Yoo said Obama’s participation was arranged by the NAACP’s request and the two groups and the White House are coordinating schedules for the event.

The two groups have been working to resolve conflicts between Korean Americans and African Americans in Dallas in the U.S. state of Texas.
