Obama Meets with China's Leader-in-Waiting at White House

U.S. President Barack Obama and Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met at the White House on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Obama said the U.S. wants to work with China to ensure that all countries “work by the same rules of the road when it comes to the world economic system."

Obama added that such efforts include "ensuring there is a balanced trade flow not only between the United States and China but around the world."

The U.S. president also said that with its remarkable advancement, China’s global responsibility has also grown.

Xi said his visit to the U.S. is aimed at pushing forward U.S.-China relations. He added that he believes the two countries should establish a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and understanding. Xi is set to succeed President Hu Jintao next year.
