World Bank Head to Step Down in June

World Bank President Robert Zoellick says he will step down when his five-year term expires on June 30th.

Zoellick told Reuters the decision to leave the bank at the end of his term was his own and not due to pressure from the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama.

The post has traditionally gone to a U.S. national.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said the U.S. will put forward a candidate with experience and requisite qualities within weeks.

Possible candidates include Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former White House economic adviser Lawrence Summers.
