A leading international law firm in the United States says it will advance into South Korea’s legal service market.

Chicago-based McDermott Will and Emery LLP announced on Wednesday it will open an office in Seoul. The company would be the first foreign law firm to establish an office in South Korea.

In accordance with the South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement, foreign law firms will be able to set up offices and practice in South Korea.

During the past 30 years, McDermott Will and Emery LLP has represented multinational firms, including companies from South Korea and the U.S., in business transactions. The firm provides legal services related to mergers and acquisitions and intellectual property rights.
