Italian Farmers Suffer from Brutal Winter

The heavy snow and freezing temperatures that have plagued Europe over the past month have incurred financial losses on Italian farms of 300-million euros or roughly 450-billion won.

During what was the worst snowfall and cold spell to strike Italy in 27 years, farmers watched as their livestock, including cattle, horse, pigs, sheep and chicken, succumbed to the unforgiving conditions.

Although the livestock supply fell off sharply, prices have fallen by five percent since many consumers have been staying home due to the poor weather.
