Germany Withdraws Officials from Kabul

Written: 2012-02-27 13:23:52Updated: 2012-02-27 14:49:15

The German government says it has pulled out its officials and German employees of international organizations from the Afghan capital of Kabul.

Germany’s move follows the killings of two U.S. soldiers inside the Afghan Interior Ministry amid violent protests over the burning of the Koran by American forces.

On February 25th, NATO and Britain withdrew their officials working at Afghan government agencies for safety reasons.

German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Dirk Niebel said the pullout is temporary and the officials will return to their duties in Afghanistan.
