US Pacific Commander Cautious about NK Denuclearization Efforts

U.S. Pacific Commander Admiral Robert Willard has presented a cautious view on the prospects of North Korea’s denuclearization.

The commander of the U.S. Pacific Command told the U.S. Senate Armed Forces Committee on Thursday that he positively views recent efforts for the North’s denuclearization, such as a bilateral agreement reached between the U.S. and the North last week, but he is not completely optimistic. However, he did say he was encouraged by the results of the recent high-ranking talks between Washington and Pyongyang.

Regarding the possibility of change in the North’s nuclear policy, Willard said it remains to be seen as there has been no significant change in the North since Kim Jong-un took power.
