S. Korea's Nuke Envoy Arrives in New York

South Korea’s top nuclear negotiator, Lim Sung-nam, has hinted that he could meet with his North Korean counterpart, Ri Yong-ho, on the sidelines of a seminar in New York on Thursday.

Lim met with a group of South Korean correspondents at a seminar in Columbia University in New York on Wednesday and was asked if he had any plans to meet Ri during his stay in the U.S.

The nuclear envoy said he had no immediate plans to do so, but he added he hopes there will be a chance for the two Koreas to exchange views on recent conditions regarding the Korean Peninsula, hinting that he and Ri could meet in New York.

Lim arrived in New York on Wednesday to attend a seminar jointly organized by Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and Germany’s Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The seminar will be held Thursday through Saturday.
