Xinjiang, Tibet Leaders Vow to Sternly Deal with Extremists

The leaders of autonomous regions in Xinjiang Uyghur and Tibet are vowing to sternly deal with extremist activities.

On the third day of the fifth session of China’s eleventh National People’s Congress, the Communist Party secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region told reporters that terrorist activities are not a religious or national issue but a crime against humanity. He pledged a policy of zero tolerance toward terrorists.

The president of the Tibet Autonomous Region said in a news conference Wednesday that the Dalai Lama and his supporters are instigating young people, but there is no need to compete with him.
