Members who participated in the conference held by the National Committee on American Foreign Affairs believe that North Korea will maintain “continuity” in its agreements made with the United States.
North Korea’s Vice Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho led a delegation to the six-hour conference held by the U.S. think tank that took place in New York on Saturday.
During a news conference after the meeting, members noted that Pyongyang seemed open to following its recent February agreement with the U.S. regarding a nuclear moratorium that was made during a meeting in Beijing. The North Korean delegation was not present during the news conference.
Although the exact details of the discussions that took place at the conference were not disclosed, participants reported that the talks were positive.
Those who attended the meeting emphasized the importance of inter-Korean relations by saying that if bilateral relations between North and South Korea worsened or if the two Koreas failed to hold talks, the dynamics between the two nations would affect the U.S. position
