US to Unveil Food Aid Plan to N.Korea

The U.S. government will reportedly unveil this week its plan to provide food aid to North Korea.

The U.S. State Department says Robert King, the department's special envoy on the North's human rights situation, will visit the World Food Program in Rome on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss the provision of nutrient support to the communist state.

King is expected to be accompanied by the U.S. Agency for International Development’s deputy assistant administrator, Jon Brause, who has been handling the North Korean nutritional assistance program.

During the two officials’ upcoming visit to the WFP, Washington is expected to disclose a detailed plan on its food aid to the North, which reportedly involves a monthly 20-thousand ton provision for a year.
