Tokyo May Intercept N.Korean Rocket if Headed Toward Japan

Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun reported that the Japanese government was mulling over a plan to intercept a long-range rocket that North Korea is planning to launch in April, if it heads toward Japanese territory.

The report said Toyko was looking into giving a destroy order based on its self-defense law to intercept the Gwangmyongsong-3 with its missile defense system.

North Korea has said the rocket will be launched toward the West Sea, which would still place some Japanese islands within firing distance.
