US Senators Accuse Obama of 'Appeasing' North Korea

U.S. Foreign Policy magazine says five Republican senators have sent a letter to President Barack Obama saying his plan to provide North Korea with food aid is an act of appeasement.

In the March 15th letter, they expressed "serious concern about the administration's decision to provide food aid to North Korea in exchange for hollow commitments on denuclearization."

The letter continued that the Obama administration’s move to send the aid embraces “a policy of appeasement with Pyongyang."

The letter was signed by Senators Jon Kyl, James Inhofe, Marco Rubio, John Cornyn, and James Risch.

Experts say the letter was sent before North Korea announced it would use a long-range missile to launch a satellite into space next month, but their argument has now become more persuasive following the North's announcement.
