UNSC to Adopt Presidential Statement Against Syria

The international community is enhancing diplomatic efforts to put pressure on Syria to end the violence immediately.

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) plans to adopt on Tuesday, local time, a presidential statement calling for “additional measures” to end the violence in Syria unless Syrian President Bashar Assad takes six-point steps to end the violence as proposed by UN-Arab League Joint Special Envoy Kofi Annan.

France on Monday submitted to the Security Council a statement supporting Kofi Annan’s proposal for peace efforts in Syria.
