PM Urges for Safe Use of Nuclear Energy

Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik says nuclear power is inevitable amid the rising demand of energy and climate change, noting achieving nuclear security is the key.

At the Seoul Nuclear Industry Summit on Friday, Kim said while people raise concerns over the security of nuclear energy following the Fukushima nuclear accident, it would be realistic to devise ways to safely use nuclear energy over the next 40 to 50 years.

The prime minister stressed the importance of close cooperation among governments, urging industry leaders to play a central role in achieving nuclear security and safety with a stronger sense of responsibility.
