7 Dead from Shooting at Christian University in California

Seven people are dead and three injured after a gunman opened fire at a Christian university in Oakland, California on Monday.

U.S. media say an Asian man in his 40s wearing a khaki colored outfit began to shoot randomly at people in a classroom of the nursing department of Oikos University around 10:40 a.m. Reports say police arrested the gunman at a shopping mall several miles away and are investigating his motive for the crime. They have yet to reveal the shooter's identity.

South Korea’s consulate general in San Francisco has deployed an official to the scene of the crime to determine what happened. An official at the consulate general said local police earlier notified that the suspect is an ethnic Korean with American citizenship.

Oikos University was established ten years ago by a Korean pastor.
