British PM's Remarks over Falklands Anger Argentinians

Argentina is up in arms about British Prime Minister David Cameron’s remarks that Britain “played a role in righting a profound wrong” in its 1982 war with Argentina over the Falkland Islands.

Argentina’s Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that Cameron’s remarks reflect persistent glorification of colonialism, which it called the history of the United Kingdom. The ministry added that millions of human beings around the world can still bear testament to the colonialism of Britain.

Cameron made the remarks on Monday in a statement to mark the 30th anniversary of the Falkland War. He said that only the residents of the island can determine their own future, noting that an overwhelming number of the islanders want to remain British.
