EU Renews Tight Restrictions on NK’s Air Koryo

The European Union (EU) has renewed its restrictions on North Korea’s Air Koryo.

The Voice of America (VOA) reports that the European Commission again included the North Korean carrier in its revised list of airline companies that are only allowed to enter European airspace under strict conditions.

The broadcaster said except for two Russian-made planes given limited entrance approval, all other Air Koryo planes are banned from entering the EU airspace for another year.

The EU says most Air Koryo planes fail to meet international aviation safety standards.
