NK Gives Foreign Media Full Access to Rocket Launch Site

Japan’s Kyodo News reports that North Korea has not restricted foreign media in its coverage of the launch site of the North's long-range Unha-3 rocket.

Kyodo News says North Korea gave foreign journalists a firsthand look on Sunday at the launch pad and rocket and the inside of a control tower.

The Japanese news agency says North Korea showed foreign media its one-meter tall Kwangmyongsong-3 satellite and explained the square-shaped satellite will be attached to the rocket.

Kyodo says the satellite will take photos of North Korea from orbit and transmit the photos along with songs praising late North Korean founder Kim Il-sung and late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il back to Earth.

The news agency quoted the chief of the launch site as saying even the U.S. and China don’t reveal their rocket launches to this degree.
