US, European Stock Prices Surge on Positive Signs in US

U.S. and European stock prices surged on Wednesday after the U.S. released better-than-expected economic indices.

At the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 74-hundredths of a percent to close at 12-thousand-627.

The S&P 500 index rose nine-tenths of a percent to one-thousand-331-point-85 while the Nasdaq composite index grew 74-hundredths of a percent to two-thousand-875-point-32.

European stock prices also surged Wednesday amid expectations of an upcoming summit of European leaders.

Stock prices in Britain rose one-point-four percent while prices in Germany jumped one-and-a-half percent.
