Situation Worsens in Syria

The situation is getting worse and more intense in Syria, which has seen bloody confrontation between government forces and antigovernment rebels for 16 months.

A Syrian human rights group said that 116 people, including 68 civilians, were killed in gunfights between government forces and antigovernment rebels across the nation on Wednesday, local time.

Syria’s state-run Syrian Arab News Agency reported that pro-government TV station Al-Ikhbariya located on the outskirts of Damascus was raided and seven employees were killed.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad declared that the nation is at war and ordered the Cabinet to quell antigovernment protests.
