Iran Threatens Ties with S. Korea over Oil Embargo

Iran’s Petroleum Minister Rostam Ghasemi says Iran may reconsider ties with South Korea if Seoul follows through with an embargo of Iranian oil.

Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency said Ghasemi made the remark on Thursday but didn’t elaborate any further.

His warning comes after Seoul announced on Monday that it will stop importing oil from Iran in line with the European Union’s insurance ban on tankers carrying the crude that goes into effect Sunday.

South Korea is the first of Asian countries that import Iranian oil to declare that it will suspend imports.
