IMF Warns of Hard Landing for Chinese Economy

The International Monetary Fund is warning against a possible hard landing for the Chinese economy.

The IMF said in a global economic outlook report that the possibility remains for the tail risk of a Chinese hard landing.

A tail risk refers to an economic shock that is unlikely to happen but has the potential to cause a grave market tumble.

The IMF predicted that China will post an economic growth rate of eight percent this year, down from its initial outlook of eight-point-two percent. It also lowered its prediction for China’s economic growth rate next year from eight-point-five percent to eight-point-two percent.
