Seventeen people were wounded after a gunman opened fire into a crowd at a bar near the University of Alabama campus on Tuesday.

At the time of the shooting, some 80 college students were crowded in the bar. Most of the wounded suffered slight injuries but two are in intensive care.

The gunman, who used a military-style assault weapon in the shooting, turned himself in to the police at a location some 70 kilometers away from the scene.

Local police have yet to determine a motive for the crime. Police suspect the gunman may have been aiming for a member of a rival motorcycle gang, given the gunman belongs to a motorcycle gang.
