Survey: K-pop is Most Representative Image of S. Korea in Latin America

A new survey finds that K-pop is the first image that pops up in the heads of Latin Americans when asked about South Korea.

The Korean Cultural Center based in Argentina conducted a survey on 656 people that visited an international book fair earlier in May and found that 20 percent of respondents think of music and K-pop first when they think about South Korea.

Around 18 percent said they first think about culture, ten percent said science and technology, another ten percent said food, and eight percent said the Korean War and North Korea.

Asked what is the main point of interest regarding South Korea, 29 percent of respondents said the Korean alphabet, Hangeul, 27 percent said food, 23 percent said the Korean pop culture and 21 percent said films.
