Gun Control Debate Rages in US

The recent shooting rampage at a movie theater in Colorado has reignited a debate on gun control in the U.S.

In a Fox TV program, Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein demanded a tougher gun control law, saying that weapons of war must not be allowed on the streets.

Republican Senator Ron Johnson responded by saying that tougher gun control will have no significant effect on reducing crime but only suppress freedom.

U.S. politicians are expected to engage in a heated debate on a stronger gun control law that would ban the ownership of assault weapons, as the Colorado shooting suspect, James Holmes, was found to have legally purchased guns.
