100,000 Tons of Radioactive Water Still under Fukushima Nuke Plant

Roughly 100-thousand tons of water contaminated with a high level of radioactive substances is still under the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.

Japanese newspaper the Asahi Shimbun reports that Tokyo Electric Power Company has purified more than 160-thousand tons of radioactive water. But it explained that hundreds of tons of contaminated water still gathers underground every day, since cooling water is leaked from a damaged pressure vessel and a container vessel.

In order to deal with the leak, Tokyo Electric Power Company has increased the storage capacity of a purified water tank to 228-thousand tons.
