Hyundai Recalling 220,000 Vehicles in the U.S.

Hyundai Motor is recalling 220-thousand Santa Fe four-wheel drives and Sonata sedans in the United States due to faulty airbags, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 199-thousand Santa Fe sport-utility vehicles recalled were manufactured from April 2006 through July 2008.

The NHTSA recall is to fix a problem that could keep the front passenger airbag from deploying in a crash.

Also, 22,000 Sonata sedans manufactured this January through June are being recalled because the side curtain airbags on some vehicles may deploy for no apparent reason.

Hyundai Motor is planning to inform vehicle owners of these faults starting next month, and will be replacing the faulty parts as well as providing free software updates.
