Germany, Italy Pledge to Save Euro Zone

The prime ministers of Germany and Italy are pledging joint efforts to overcome the euro zone fiscal crisis.

A German government spokesman says German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti agreed in a conference call to do everything necessary to protect the euro zone.

The two leaders also agreed on the need to swiftly implement the agreement reached in late last month’s EU summit.

However, they did not announce detailed action plans and what they will do to save the euro zone.
