UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has confirmed an attack on a UN delegation led by the acting head of the UN Supervision Mission in Syria, Lieutenant General Babacar Gaye.

Ban said that no injuries have been reported, but he renewed his call on the Syrian government to end its bloody crackdown on antigovernment rebels and opposition forces.

The UN chief also urged rebels to halt their violent protests and battles against government forces. He voiced deep concerns about the impact of the violent clash between government forces and antigovernment rebels on neighboring countries of Syria, noting that the confrontation has turned into a civil war.
