Korean Culture Takes the Stage in London

The sound of Korean soprano Jo Su-mi’s voice as she sings the traditional Korean folk song “arirang” fills the Royal Festival Hall in Britain.

Korean violinist Sarah Chang plays numbers from the musical “West Side Story.”

Foreign audiences are spellbound by the Korean musicians who performed to the accompaniment of the Philharmonia Orchestra, one of Britain’s top three orchestras.

A fashion show themed on traditional Korean designs and patterns was also held.

International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge visited the Korea House in London, a facility to promote Korean culture overseas.

Korea now presents itself to the world as a cultural power house.
