US Will Consider Humanitarian Aid if N. Korea Makes Request

The international community is devising plans to help North Korea recover from recent damage it sustained due to a typhoon and heavy rains.

UNICEF sent a delegation to North Korea Wednesday to identify the scale of damage inflicted on the country by the natural disasters, and the United States is closely monitoring the situation.

In the event the North’s people are confirmed to be suffering deeply from the natural disasters, the U.S. government reportedly plans to launch measures to provide humanitarian aid but only at the North's request. The U.S. also stipulated that North Korea must vow not to engage in provocative actions, including carrying out missile launches and nuclear tests.
