US Court Denies Apple's Request for Samsung Sanctions

A U.S. court denied Apple’s request for sanctions against Samsung Electronics over a controversial press release after the first day of testimony in a patent trial between the two companies.

U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh made the decision in a third hearing for the issue on Friday, explaining the jurors in the trial were polled and they all said they didn't read about the case in the media.

Before its request was denied, Apple asked the court to throw out evidence Samsung wanted to show the jury purporting that Apple had copied Sony’s designs.

Experts said before the court’s decision that Apple's demands had been too frivolous and there was a high chance the court would throw the sanctions request out.
