Tokyo Angered by Planned S. Korean Military Exercise near Dokdo

The Japanese government has protested the South Korean military's plans for defense training near the Dokdo islets in the East Sea.

Japanese media reported from a press conference held by Japan’s chief cabinet secretary Fujimura Osamu that Tokyo had made an official complaint to Seoul regarding the training.

Fujimura told reporters if the plans were true, they were unacceptable to the Japanese government, which continues to claim sovereignty over the South Korean islets.

The South Korean military plans to conduct joint-forces defense training involving the Army, Navy and the Air Force in mid-August near Dokdo.
