Bloomberg reports that China will cut its production of rare earth elements by 20 percent in accordance with new industry rules.

Bloomberg quoted a Chinese official in charge of managing rare earth minerals as saying that the new rules will apply to 23 rare earth element mines and 99 refineries.

China has been reducing its production of rare earth elements since prices for those minerals have fallen 50 percent since 2011.
