Japan protests S. Korea’s Description of Dokdo in Diplomatic White Paper

A Japanese newspaper reports that Japan is protesting South Korea’s description of the Dokdo islets as part of its territory in its diplomatic white paper.

The Yomiuri Shimbun said the Japanese Foreign Ministry demanded that South Korea remove the description from the diplomatic white paper and cancel its designation of the skies over Dokdo as a military drill zone.

South Korea has protested Japan’s inclusion of Dokdo as its territory in Tokyo's defense white paper several times. But it is unprecedented for Japan to complain about South Korea’s description of the easternmost islets in a diplomatic white paper.

The Japanese government issued the complaint two months after the South Korean diplomatic white paper was published in June, following reports about it by right-wing Japanese media.
