US Judge Again Urges Samsung, Apple to Engage in Settlement Talks

A U.S. court judge has advised Samsung Electronics and Apple to talk about settling one more time before a jury begins deliberating on the high-stakes patent trial between the smartphone giants.

U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose, California advised the CEOs of both companies on Wednesday to at least talk on the phone one time before the case is handed to a jury.

Koh made a similar request to Samsung and Apple in April, but the two firms failed to reach an agreement.

The legal counsels of both electronics firms said that their clients will accept Koh’s advice.

In April of last year, Apple filed a suit against Samsung at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Jose, explaining that Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablet computers had infringed on Apple’s patents and brands. Samsung issued a counterclaim in response.
