Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. were unable to come to an agreement on narrowing their dispute regarding patents used in their products.

With the settlement failure, the case is likely to come to a conclusion after a jury decision regarding the case on August 21.

The chief executives in management from both companies convened on Saturday to attempt to simplify the dispute, but failed.

Both companies declined to disclose details of the meeting.
The meeting had been ordered on August 15 by U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh before the jury decision.
