China Protests Japanese Activists’ Landing on Disputed Islands

Chinese ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua has strongly protested Japanese right-wing activists’ boat landing on the disputed Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea.

The Chinese ambassador stressed in a meeting with a high-ranking Japanese Foreign Ministry official that the islands, which are known as Diaoyu in Chinese, are part of Chinese territory and Japan must stop violating China’s sovereignty.

In a statement released in the name of chief spokesman Qin Gang, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said Japanese right-wing activists violated China’s sovereignty.
