At Least 175 Dead from Building Collapse in Bangladesh

At least 175 people are dead and roughly one-thousand injured after an eight-story building collapsed outside Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, on Wednesday.

Local police say the Rana Plaza building in Savar, located some 20 kilometers north of Dhaka, collapsed at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Foreign media including the Associated Press report the building housed five garment factories and some 200 stores.

Police estimate that roughly two-thousand people were inside the building when it crumbled, adding the death toll is likely to rise.

An official of the South Korean Embassy in Bangladesh says that no South Korean's were hurt and it's keeping an eye on the situation as it develops.
