Paris Police Evacuate Tourists from Arc de Triomphe over Bomb Scare

Paris police evacuated tourists from the Arc de Triomphe on Monday after receiving intelligence that there was a bomb near the famous monument.

Local police said they restricted entry and exit of tourists around the arch for around two hours after they received a report about a bomb placed near the monument around 2 p.m. Monday.

Police immediately dispatched bomb disposal experts to the arch and carried out search efforts. They did not confirm whether the bomb report was true or not.

A month ago, Paris police evacuated tourists from the Eiffel Tower in a similar bomb scare. Fears about terrorism are rising in France since it launched a military intervention in Mali in January.
