Rallies Held Across Globe on Labor Day

Rallies were held across the globe on Wednesday to mark Labor Day.

Greece’s main labor unions staged a 24-hour general strike, and in Spain tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets amid a record-high unemployment rate.

In Turkey, rallies were banned at Taksim Square in Istanbul which led to a clash between protesters and police.

In Bangladesh, where more than 400 people died last Wednesday after an eight-story building collapsed, 20-thousand people staged a rally at the site of the accident.

Major rallies and strikes were also held in the U.S. and China amid the global economic recession.
