White House Urges N. Korea to Halt Provocations

The White House has urged North Korea to halt provocations after Pyongyang fired three short-range missiles toward the East Sea on Saturday.

National Security Council Spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said in a statement on Saturday that the North has nothing to gain with provocations and only further isolate itself from the rest of the world.

She added that the North’s threats and provocations undermine international efforts to bring peace and stability to Northeast Asia.

Hayden said the United States continues to call on “the North Korean leadership to heed President Obama's call to choose the path of peace and come into compliance with its international obligation.”
