North Korea has fired short-range projectiles toward the East Sea, marking the third consecutive day that it carried out such launches.

Seoul's Defense Ministry said that the North fired what is believed to be a KN-02 ground-to-ground missile sometime between 11 AM and noon on Monday. Another launch was detected later in the afternoon.

The missile launched in the morning is said to have been fired from a mobile launcher in Wonsan, Gangwon Province and flew about 100 kilometers.

The South Korean military is closely monitoring the North amid the possibility that it could carry out another provocation. A military official said that the South is working on analyzing the North's intention behind the latest round of launches. The official added that the North appears to be trying to renew tension on the Korean Peninsula.

The North fired three projectiles on Saturday and another one on Sunday.
