US to Test Fire Intercontinental Ballistic Missile on Tuesday

The U.S. Defense Department says it will test fire an intercontinental ballistic missile from an Air Force base in California on Tuesday.

The U.S. Air Force said it will remove a nuclear warhead from the Minuteman 3 missile and launch it from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The missile is set to fly six-thousand-740 kilometers toward waters near the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean.

The U.S. military said the launch is a regular test to check the missile’s reliability.

The Pentagon was originally planning to carry out the test launch in early April but delayed it after tensions rose on the Korean Peninsula due to North Korea’s continued threats of war.
